I coulda been a contendah

Tomorrow night, I'm competing for the 3rd year in a row in a corporate darts tournament.

My arm hurts like MURDER from practicing, hitting the bulls eye again and again. I've been getting better at it and have been using the Silver Bullet (coors light beer) as inspiration. It helps me to aim. And to talk mad shit to the competition.

I hope I don't totally fuck up and let my darts fly off in all directions during the competition. I've never won during this particular sporting event and don't necessarily expect to tomorrow. I mainly want to be sure not to embarrass the company that I work for.

Then, on Saturday, I'm competing in a grilled cheese competition. My roommate and I won 3rd place for a sammich last year and we expect to do even better this year.

I have butterflies in my stomach from the anticipation of this competition. I can't believe the butterflies found their way in through all the cheesey fatty goodness from all the taste test-testing and grill practicing I've been doing all week.

Eeeek! I need another trophy. Must. Win. Big. This. Week.

Wishing you luck.

Wait, what are you playing? Because the bullseye is only worth 25/50, whereas the triple twenty is 20/60.

Unless I'm playing Cricket or round-the-clock, I usually just try to go for center top. If I hit one triple-20 and then two outside of that, I've still got 100 points.

Del-V, THANK YOU!!! Although, I don't agree that I'm the very most awesome, I am pretty rad.

Mike, I'll need it. The competition is fierce.

MJenks, I'm playing 301 and your strategy was the same as mine for the previous 2 years. However, this year I got some pro advice and switched to hitting the bullseye. In our competition, the bulls is worth 50 no matter if it's in the middle or the outer ring. And it's actually a bigger target than the triple. We also have to double out and the bulls counts. So, I don't have to switch my aim to the double ring of the board and possibly fly completely off of it, hitting the guy next to me. Which could cost him an eye. So hitting the middle is a win/win, dontcha think?

Ah, see, mine always goes with the 25/50 on the bullseye. Yeah, that's a better strategy.

My four-year-old came out and was hanging with me while I did the "throw darts while the grill cooks" thing last night. He asked if he could throw, so I showed him how and he let fly.

Yeah, you know the ending already: dead-center bullseye. First throw. *rolls eyes*
